It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
