Barcelona to Host Historic Game at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available with 45,401 fans will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. After final construction, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said finished work included a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a public practice on the home pitch in early November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht next month at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
